Kamehameha Shopping Center is a double anchored community center serving the Kalihi, Kapalama, Salt Lake and Nuuanu neighborhoods, just outside the urban core of modern Honolulu, Hawaii. The center has been an established part of the suburban Honolulu community since 1958.
Kamehameha Shopping Center has served this community for over four decades and has been expanded and renovated to meet the growing and changing needs of the local community. The center is built on lands once owned by the Royal Family of Hawai`i, the Kamehameha Dynasty. The income from lease rents of these bequeathed lands goes towards supporting the educational endeavors of the Kamehameha Schools, a renowned educational system with its main campus in this neighborhood, and campuses also on Maui and Hawai`i island. The school has served this community for generations.
Kamehameha Shopping Center is a family oriented, community center featuring Times Supermarket, Longs Drug Store, American Savings Bank, Vision, Payless Shoes, McDonalds, Starbucks and numerous dine-in and take-out restaurants specializing in deli sandwiches and desserts, burgers and fries, Hawaiian, Korean, Chinese, Asian foods and much, much more.
Kamehameha Shopping Center sits on one of the busiest corners in Honolulu, Like Like Highway and School Street, which also serves as a major city bus transfer point. Like Like is a major trans-Ko`olau artery from downtown Honolulu to the communities of Kailua and Kaneohe.
The shopping center offers approximately 136,000 square feet of Gross Leasable Area, nestled at the bottom of Kalihi Valley in the Kalihi and Palama area. This is a community of neighborhoods, the home of industrious multigenerational families who rely on Kamehameha Shopping Center for their everyday needs. Whether that is milk, eggs and paper towels or a quick dinner at Kenny’s Restaurant, a local favorite! A bi-level parking structure that is located at the center of the shopping center was added to accommodate our customers, as the neighborhood grew. Public bus stops are located on three sides of the shopping center and provide easy access to the public transit system.
Originally opened in 1958 with Star Market, later expanding to include Kenny’s Burger House in 1960 and Kenny’s Restaurant in 1965. Today the open air center is anchored by Times Super Market and Longs Drugs. The Center’s, comfortable atmosphere is designed to create a casual, family friendly shopping experience.
The Center contains over 35 vendors, ranging from restaurants to office space. The Center’s combined merchant mix includes both local and national retailers, which collectively provide a wonderful shopping experience and allows our shopper to meet all of their shopping needs in one convenient location.
