MAYOR RICK BLANGIARDI PROCLAIMS AUGUST AS PEDESTRIAN SAFETY MONTH

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Mayor Rick Blangiardi, members of the City & County of Honolulu’s Department of Transporation Services, representatives from the Honolulu Police Department and the State of Hawaii’s Walk Wise Hawaii program held a press conference in front of KSC’s Times Supermarket to launch the City’s participation in the State’s Pedestrian Safety Month. All three TV news stations, Hawaii News Now, KHON & KITV, were in attendance as the Mayor presented the proclamation to Walk Wise Hawaii and the Hawaii State Department of Transportation (see the entire proclamation below). Following the press conference, the Mayor joined HPD and community volunteers for a driver awareness of pedestrians sign waving event on School Street in front of the Center.

Kamehameha Shopping Center’s GM Iris Kanno shared that the Center has participated in Pedestrian Safety Month for over five years educating KSC shoppers the importance of being visible when walking at dusk and night. The Center distributed free pedestrian safety lights and reflective bands to customers outside Times Supermarket that evening.
